POLLICA

Overlooking fields of olive trees towards the Tyrrhenian Sea, the town of Pollica represents the beating heart and the perfect symbol of the Mediterranean Diet. A heritage of science, traditional knowledge, skills and identity values generated by a territory that is a natural laboratory of terrestrial and marine biodiversity.
Choosing this Town as a destination to work remotely will increase not only your physical-mental well-being and productivity, but also your food culture handed down by the local grannies! 😉

THE TOWN

THE WORLD CAPITAL OF THE MEDITERRANEAN DIET

Spectacular Landscapes | Good food | Sun and Sea

As part of Cilento National Park, Pollica is renowned for its wonderful territory, made of hills and plains, sea, beautiful landscapes and interesting architectural elements.
The slow life of its 2,300 inhabitants is based on skills, knowledge, rituals and traditions, centered on sharing and eating in a perfect balance between food landscape and food identity. It is no coincidence that it was here that Ancel and Margaret Keys began their studies of the local centenarian population, finding in food the secret of their longevity and well-being.
Any season is good to spend your workation in Pollica thanks to the mild climate that will welcome you during the colder seasons and the crystal-clear waters that will cool you down after work during the summer months!

SURROUNDINGS

Mediterranean Diet

The food and wine of the Cilento region is the basis of the Mediterranean Diet. It boasts a rich variety of unique and genuine dishes that smell of simplicity, taking us back to memories of the ancient flavors of yesteryear. It is a poor but healthy and quality cuisine that uses the products offered by the land, respecting its biodiversity and seasonality.

Between Land and Sea

A land rich in history, myths, legends, flora and fauna, traditions; a complex and extraordinary mosaic of resources such as to constitute for you, as temporary habitants, a unique itinerary of great emotion; you will discover a land and a part of yourself. The possibilities for nature trails are numerous, from a walk in the vineyards to a dip in the turquoise waters of the Cilento coastline.

History & Culture

It’s a town with a thousand years of history, in fact its origin is documented as far back as 1113! Pollica has a beautiful old town center, and besides there are many gorgeous neighboring sea and hill places to not be missed! If you plan to stay in Pollica during the warmer months, know that the major seaside areas of Cilento are just a few minutes’ drive away, such as Acciaroli and Pioppi. Fun Fact: It seems that in Acciaroli, the writer Ernest Hemingway took the inspiration for his famous novel ‘The Old Man and the Sea’!

Mobility

Pollica is located in the Cilento area of Campania, south of Salerno. The easiest way to reach the village is by car. To reach Pollica by train, we recommend two nearest stations: Vallo della Lucania and Agropoli. Clearly, the village is far from the train stations and it is always a good idea to make arrangements in advance with the host or taxis available locally.
The Cilento is not well served in terms of reaching it by airplane. The nearest airport is Naples (Capodichino), about 2 hours driving from Pollica. Once you arrive, you can choose to reach the Cilento area by renting a car, train or bus.
