National Park
Around Civita, generous nature invites for walking and exploration. The energy of this place can be fully enjoyed as you walk along its rocky terraces where the view sweeps from the first rocky mountain of the
Pollino National Park to the horizon of the Ionian Sea. Don’t forget to check the Raganello, a 14 km long stream that runs through the deep cleft of the longest canyon in Italy, a UNESCO site!
Albanian-Italian folklore
Civita is one of the 21 Italo-Albanian communities in the province of Cosenza that, among the 50 communities present in central-southern Italy, are part of the Arberìa, a historical region of ethnic linguistic minority protected by the State. Its origins date back to 1500 during the first transmigrations of the Albanian people from the motherland to escape the attacks of the Turkish Empire and probably just after the death of the Albanian leader hero Giorgio Castriota Skanderbeg, still remembered in the
songs, rhapsodies and folklore.
Civita, before the coming of the Albanian people, was the ancient settlement "Castrum Sancti Salvatoris" along a route of the sybarites to reach the Pollino and its archaic soul is still breathed in the landscape that preserves the genius loci and place names that refer to the Hellenistic age.
Traces of its history are visible in the landscape, in the customs of the community and even more in the ancient idiom that after 5 centuries is a language that has remained mostly unchanged, with archaic traits of the Albanian language and other characteristics of the Tosco, with linguistic loans from the Greek.
The Town
Civita is an open-air museum, to be experienced and traveled along itineraries inside and outside the village. The community participates in the
construction of the experience in this charming village made of a simple and poor but respectable past. The square of the village is a living room surrounded by the bell tower of the church and by the rocky crown of the "timpe" that at sunset become an indescribable chromatic spectacle showing archaic faces like stone sculptures. A visit to Civita is a celebration of the 5 senses!?

Our Civita co-working is located in a historic building used as an ecomuseum center of the Raganello Valley.
The coworking rooms are located on the upper floor where an art gallery dedicated to Civita and its beauties is set up. It is in a convenient position that you can reach on foot, with a panoramic terrace on the ancient roofs of Civita houses.
A few meters away you can reach the central square where you can have a break trying the typical almond granita or the wine from local farms.
