This charming apartment is located at the very heart of the Montepulciano historical center, surrounded by a variety of restaurants, bars, cafes, shops and all the facilities of the old town center.
Born from the careful restoration works of an ancient three-storey building and renewed to offer our guests the convenience of modern amenities, the apartment design remains loyal to the traditional Tuscan design, with parquet and raw terracotta floors, exposed wooden beam ceilings all over the property mixed with modern design furniture, which give the structure a warm and hospitable atmosphere.
Breakfast is included for our guests and is offered at the historical Antico Caffè Poliziano only 20 m away from the flat and an emblematic icon of the Art Nouveau style, which was popular amongst celebrities such as Federico Fellini.
The apartment has a living room with a comfortable sofa and dining table with chairs, bright bedroom with a large double bed and a separate desk next to the window which can be properly used as a quiet workstation. There is a private modern bathroom with shower. The small kitchenette is equipped with a kettle, electric stove, sink and fridge, but it is available only to prepare hot drinks and heat baby food – cooking is not allowed in the premises but it is possible to order meals for delivery from nearby restaurants.
Comfortable bed, modern bathroom, quality linens, LED television and free wi-fi internet connection will make your stay here comfortable and convenient.
We have agreements with the spa and some restaurants with special arrangements for our guests.
Non-smoking rooms only.
You are in the heart of Montepulciano, where you will experience the atmosphere of the town, its art & history as well as the countless typical restaurants, historic cafes, artisan shops and wine cellars where you can taste some of the best wines in the world.
Our apartment is right along Via di Voltaia nel Corso and a few hundred meters away from Piazza Grande.
Montepulciano has for centuries been considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Famous for its great food and wine tradition, its historical and cultural importance and breathtaking landscapes, it remains today the masterpiece of Tuscan culture. Located in the middle of the iconic Tuscan countryside, yet easy to reach via motorways and railways, it offers the perfect combination for extended stays.
A large co-working space is available for SmartWay guests in the old town fortress (Fortezza), at the top of Montepulciano old town, with beautiful landscape views, free wifi access and coffee shops, restaurants and wineries underneath on the ground floor.
Getting around the area
The historic center of Montepulciano can be easily visited on foot but due to its location on a hill of over 600 meters, the walk up to the top can be challenging. There is a minibus service at the medieval town entrance gate (Porta al Prato) which can take you up to the Piazza Grande – where I recommend you start your visit, comfortably walking down the streets back to the base of the Poliziano hill.
If you would like to explore the surroundings, there are convenient bus routes from the central bus station bringing you to Siena, Firenze, Arezzo, Perugia and to all the small yet iconic towns nearby such as Pienza, Montalcino, Bagno Vignoni. E-bike rental services are a great option to explore more distant wineries while enjoying the panoramic views.
Driving in the historic center can be difficult, and a special permit is required, subject to fines. We recommend that you park at parking n.6 upon arrival, pay for half an hour and reach us by walking – we can then advise you on how to proceed and unload your luggage. Alternatively, if you want to drive straight into the historic center, please inform us in advance your license plate number so that we can communicate it to the municipal police and avoid fines.
