Our property is a typical Walser house from the early 1800s in the community of Rima, located on 1417 meters above the sea level, which makes it the highest situated village in the Valsesia region. Immersed in a fabulous scenery, the village is part of the Natural Park Alta Valsesia and is dominated by Mount Tagliaferro (2964m).
Intact in terms of landscape, nature and architecture, the village looks like a small jewel set in a pristine valley. Rima was founded around 1300 by Walser settlers coming from the Swiss Valais; customs, traditions and architecture of this ancient population have been carefully preserved by the inhabitants and the signs of this century-old and fascinating culture emerge in every corner of the village. On an artistic level, there is also the Museo Gipsoteca Pietro Della Vedova that collects more than 170 studies of the nineteenth-century sculptor, the parish church of S. Giovanni Battista (1635) and the oratory of Beata Vergine delle Grazie (1480), excellent examples of Valsesian artistic production.
A small village with a great history, a corner of peace in today’s world.
The whole two room apartment will be at your disposal. It consists of the living room with double sofa bed and alcove (which is a typical wooden bed), fully equipped kitchen and bathroom with shower. The apartment has a large balcony with a stunning view of the mountains.
On the ground floor of the building there is a common room where you can use the washing machine and the laundry room.
Rima is characterised by an atmosphere of tranquility, contact with nature and mountain culture. A small village, where cars are not allowed to pass and where the only constant noise is that of the many fountains, it is able to offer many activities, to be enjoyed independently or with the whole community.
The apartment is within a walking distance to local restaurants, bars and shops.
