This suite is the largest of the house and consists of a cozy and intimate double room that enjoys views of the Valdichiana and the Tuscan hills and a spacious twin room with single beds that overlooks the course of Montepulciano. Suitcases and hatboxes from the 20s and an authentic furnishing enhanced by a Liberty style dressing table make this room exclusive.
The two rooms are equipped with a characteristic and large bathroom in Provencal style overlooking the valley. Equipped with a characteristic bathtub built into the wall and embellished with small objects and bath products dating back to the ’50s.
The suite is located in the historic center of Montepulciano, as part of a large apartment on the second floor of an historical palace of the seventeenth century. It is ideal for remote workers, as it offers tranquillity and atmosphere.
In a few steps you will reach the best restaurants where you can taste our typical dishes, fascinating wineries where you can taste our excellent Vino Nobile, typical and characteristic stores and the main tourist attractions. You can forget about the car when you are in the village and relax losing yourself in the charming alleys of this beautiful village.
The dining room, in seventeenth-century style, offers a large cozy table where every morning you can enjoy your breakfast while admiring the wonderful view from its window.
The living room is the ideal place to relax and enjoy the quiet of the house while sipping a good glass of red wine: elegant and comfortable sofas are surrounded by a charming decorated fireplace, antique furniture, decorations, frescoes and paintings ranging from the seventeenth to the nineteenth century. It overlooks the main street of Montepulciano, the fulcrum and beating heart of the village, with its typical stores and small businesses, a place of passage for locals, remote workers and tourists.
The Napoleonic living room, a fascinating environment of the house, is dedicated to the Napoleon Bonaparte. The owner of the building has always been passionate about history and in particular about this great historical figure, embellishing the walls with pictures and paintings that retrace his exploits and battles.
Upstairs is one of the most charming corners of the house: a small living room with fireplace surrounded by an intimate atmosphere where you can take refuge at the end of the day.
The terrace, located on the top floor of the building, dominates the whole village and the hills around. Its 360° view sweeps across the Valdichiana with its enchanting villages, first of all Cortona, up to Lake Trasimeno and reaching the mountainous peaks of Abruzzo on clear days.
Montepulciano has for centuries been considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Famous for its great food and wine tradition, its historical-cultural importance and its breathtaking landscapes, it remains today the masterpiece of Tuscan tourism. Connected to motorways and railways while secluded in the iconic Tuscan countryside, it offers the perfect combination for extended stays.
A large co-working space is available for SmartWay guests in the old town fortress (Fortezza), at the top of Montepulciano old town, with beautiful landscape views, free wifi access and coffee shops and restaurants underneath on the ground floor.
Getting around the area
The historic center of Montepulciano can be easily visited on foot but due to its location on a hill of over 600 meters, the walk up to the top can be challenging. There is a minibus service at the base of the Poliziano hill which can take you up to the Piazza Grande – where I recommend you start your visit, comfortably walking down the streets back to the base of the Poliziano hill.
Internet connection speed test will be available in the coming days
