Immerse yourself in the Middle Ages by staying in a real castle! The house is located inside the Monaldeschi della Cervara Castle in the small and charming village of Monterubiaglio, a few km from Orvieto. It is structured on three levels and includes the suggestive tower of the castle. The house overlooks each side of the castle, both on the internal courtyard and on the whole village. The castle is located at the highest point of the village and enjoys a 360 ° panoramic view of the surrounding valleys and the village.
The apartment is organized as follows: from the entrance (with a small library room and armor) a staircase leads you to the main floor with kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and a large living room with a double sofa bed. From here a spiral staircase leads you to the top of the turret, a cozy and intimate refuge with a fireplace, two sofa beds and a bathroom.
The furniture and furnishings are historical and valuable.
The house was the home of the journalist Jader Jacobelli who had roots in this village and who found refuge here.
Monterubiaglio is a small and charming hilltop village located on a slope dominating the valley of the Paglia river, its territory is rich in thermal waters and offers corners of rare naturalistic beauty: olive groves, vineyards, magnificent woods are the undisputed protagonists of these places.
The house is located in the oldest part of the village, on the main square in the Monaldeschi della Cervara Castle. The Castle is well preserved and has a quadrangular structure with corner towers. You will also have access to the charming internal courtyard where there is the ancient well.
In the immediate vicinity is the Church of Sant’Antonio Abate. Built between 1264 and 1290, it has undergone numerous restorations and renovations over the centuries.
In the village there is a small bakery / grocery within walking distance, going down to the left immediately after the square. A little further down there is also a bar.
Just 15 minutes by car is Orvieto, 30 minutes Civita di Bagnoregio, Lake Bolsena.
Getting around the area
The car is the best way to get around and visit Orvieto, Bolsena and the lake, Civita di Bagnoregio and the many medieval villages of Umbria.
