Description

This cozy double bedroom is located in a historical palace at the entrance of Montepulciano historic centre, with car parking, supermarkets, restaurants and pharmacies available nearby.

It features a private bathroom, a view on the town centre and a flat screen TV.

The ceiling is made with nice Tuscan wood beams and cotto bricks.

Accommodation

The accommodation is located at the entrance of Montepulciano, just after the Porta a Prato a building that dates back to the beginning of 1300. It was the home of Santa Margherita da Cortona and his companion Arsenio, then became the “locanda La Campana” until the early ‘900. The palace consists of 4 floors, with the reception at the ground floor.

In addition to the stay we also offer the possibility to eat in one of the restaurants of the family, Porta di Bacco just in front of the door. Traditional dishes and innovative recipes, fresh truffle and a rich choice of wines.

Location

This bedroom conveniently located in the old town of Montepulciano, and close to supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, bars and shops.

Montepulciano has for centuries been considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Famous for its great food and wine tradition, its historical-cultural importance and its breathtaking landscapes, it remains today the masterpiece of Tuscan tourism. Connected to motorways and railways while secluded in the iconic Tuscan countryside, it offers the perfect combination for extended stays.

A large co-working space is available for SmartWay guests in the old town fortress (Fortezza), at the top of Montepulciano old town, with beautiful landscape views, free wifi access and coffee shops and restaurants underneath on the ground floor.

Getting around the area

The historic center of Montepulciano can be easily visited on foot but due to its location on a hill of over 600 meters, the walk up to the top can be challenging. There is a minibus service at the base of the Poliziano hill which can take you up to the Piazza Grande – where I recommend you start your visit, comfortably walking down the streets back to the base of the Poliziano hill.
