Description

A window over the valley, an unforgettable sunset and an excellent glass of Nobile di Montepulciano wine! Your holiday begins here, on this balcony from which your eyes can admire the iconic temple of San Biagio, the town of Montefollonico, the bell towers of Pienza, the trenches of vineyards and olive groves. I fell in love with this apartment for its dazzling views and decided to renovate it to make it modern and comfortable, so my guests can also feel at home when in Montepulciano.

Accommodation

The two bright  colorful bedrooms are equipped with 2 single beds that can be attached as double beds or separated to accommodate the needs of all of our guests. One bedroom also has extra beds that can be assembled as needed.

In the private balcony you have the perfect romantic setting to enjoy an aperitif and contemplate the sunset and appeasing views of a typical Tuscan landscape.

The living area is nicely connected to our fully equipped modern kitchen, where you can cook while enjoying the company of others or watching a movie from the  55″ flat screen TV. The kitchen has all the necessary amenities to make you feel home, including a dishwasher, electric oven, microwave, fridge and freezer.

The bathroom is large and modern, with curtained windows to maximise the sunlight.

Location

This is a cozy and silent house although it is only 250 m away from the main square (Piazza Grande), and only 200m from the old town gate. Public parking is available 300m away from the house, though not possible to park by the house as our building  is located within the limited traffic area in the historical center (special permit required).

Access to the apartment is via a set of stairs therefore it can be difficult for people with limited mobility.

Montepulciano has for centuries been considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Famous for its great food and wine tradition, its historical and cultural importance and breathtaking landscapes, it remains today the masterpiece of Tuscan culture. Located in the middle of the iconic Tuscan countryside, yet easy to reach via motorways and railways, it offers the perfect combination for extended stays.

A large co-working space is available for SmartWay guests in the old town fortress (Fortezza), at the top of Montepulciano old town, with beautiful landscape views, free wifi access and coffee shops, restaurants and wineries underneath on the ground floor.

Your host organizes tours on request with magical gastronomic itineraries, fantastic guided walks and tastings of the excellent Tuscan wine in the most charming restaurants of the old town.

Getting around the area

The historic center of Montepulciano can be easily visited on foot but due to its location on a hill of over 600 meters, the walk up to the top can be challenging. There is a minibus service at the medieval town entrance gate (Porta al Prato) which can take you up to the Piazza Grande – where I recommend you start your visit, comfortably walking down the streets back to the base of the Poliziano hill.

If you would like to explore the surroundings, there are convenient bus routes from the central bus station bringing you to Siena, Firenze, Arezzo, Perugia and to all the small yet iconic towns nearby such as Pienza, Montalcino, Bagno Vignoni. E-bike rental services are a great option to explore more distant wineries while enjoying the panoramic views.

What an amazing experience! I’ve spent 3 weeks working from this modern and newly furnished appartment and internet it’s working very well, high speed line. What I enjoyed the most was the spectacular panorama and the sunset from the terrace…for me it was the best panoramic point in Montepulciano. A big thanks to Luisa that has done everything so that I could have such a pleasant stay!
