Macugnaga, at the foot of the spectacular east face of Monte Rosa, is a small Alpine village of Walser origin in the Anzasca Valley, in the north-west of Piedmont. Culture, traditions and customs of this people are still clearly visible today in the architecture of the typical huts, in the ancient bakery ovens, in the traditional costumes worn on the occasion of festivals or in the Titsch language spoken by the elderly of the village. Valle Anzasca and Macugnaga are a small jewel in which nature, tradition, modernity and alpine wisdom blend well to offer its visitor an authentic holiday.
Getting around the area
The residence is a short walk from the town center where all the services of major interest and need are found. It is the starting point for walks and easy excursions. A few minutes and you can walk to the cable cars that lead to the Monte Moro pass on the Swiss border where, during the winter, ski lifts allow you to ski in front of Monte Rosa. The chairlifts that go up the Belvedere glacier are about 800 meters away. The bus stop that connects Macugnaga with Domodossola, an important international station on the Swiss border, is just 100 meters away. Malpensa airport is about an hour and a half by car while a bus service, called Alibus, connects Domodossola to the airport.
