Castelbuono is located at the foot of the “Milocca Hill”, in the valley of the Madonie but is also very close to the sea! During the summer season, take advantage of the beautiful Sicilian beaches, the closest one is only 20 minutes driving from the town. And for those who enjoy hiking or mountain biking, the Madonie Park offers them numerous routes and opportunities to discover this wonderful area!
Local life and food
As you, temporary citizens wander through the town's narrow streets, you will discover a wealth of artisan shops selling local products such as ceramics, olive oil, and honey. The town is also famous for its traditional pastry, the "Testa di Turco”. Be sure to visit the Fiasconaro pastry shop, an institution not only in town but in Italy! Treating yourself to a sweet break during your breaks from work here is a must 😉
A Vibrant Town
Castelbuono is considered a vibrant town due to its rich history, beautiful architecture, and lively events. The historic center of the town is charming and captivating, resembling a fairy tale with its medieval architecture and narrow streets. Walking through the streets of Castelbuono is a unique experience that transports visitors back in time. The town also hosts several events throughout the year, such as the Ypsigrock festival, one of the most important Indie-rock boutique festivals in Europe held in August, hosting international artists for 3 days!
Additionally, on Sunday mornings, the shops in Castelbuono move outside and tastings are obligatory, making for a lively and delicious atmosphere!
Mobility
You can easily visit the historical center of Castelbuono on foot. To explore the surroundings it’s suggested to rent a car, anyway, there is a bus connection to the nearest bus or train station which is located in Cefalù, 20 km far from Castelbuono. The nearest airport is “Falcone and Borsellino” airport located in Palermo, around 120 km far from Castelbuono.
